merlefest wrap-up

it's been such a busy and fun week, that i've hardly had time to sit down and write about our merlefest weekend!  i don't actually have much time now either, but i wanted to post a link to some pics, for those of you who haven't seen them yet.  i took so many photos, but managed to whittle it down to 40 or so, over here on flickr. ( i think the set starts at the end, so you may want to look at them in reverse!)



we all had a really super time.  there was so much to see and do, and plenty to keep the kids busy.  great, great music wasall around, the people were all friendly, and we really enjoyed hanging out together in places and ways that were a little out of our normal zone.

dehlia low was amazing, of course, and it was so exciting to see stig and the band right in the middle of all the action.  they got to be backstage and received all sorts of 'special artist treatment' -- but we weren't totally left out either -- we got the VIP wristband, and got a little special treatment too!

ay-pround!

we've been getting out as much as we can to enjoy this AMAZING fall weather we're having, and spending lots of time at the "ay-pround," which is griffin-speak for playground.

these were the photos i took in the morning.  then we went home, i put griffin down for his nap, and stig stayed home with him while i went to have lunch with adella at school.  (i swear, i almost didn't recognize her -- she looks so grown up!)  then after school, stig took the kiddos back to this same playground for round 2.  what can i say?  the kids love it.  and adella found out that we'd gone without her, and really really wanted to go.  on a day as pretty as this one, how can we refuse?

the sound isn't great (must have been a guy with a digital camera in the audience) but it still rocks!

tellico - it's official now!

some very exciting stuff has been brewing over the past several months... stig's band, dehlia low, has been recording a new album.  and this week it is officially finished.  they have all been working really hard on it, putting in long hours and extra practices in addition to their busy gig schedule.  it's called Tellico, and folks, it sounds awesome!   it really really does.  i know they are all very proud of it, and very excited to see where it will lead them.  so far the response has been great, and i'm sure there will be much more of that to come.

this week, finally, it is available to buy.  you can go to CDbaby to buy the album, either in CD form or a digital download.  and i think it is on iTunes too.  CDbaby also has several tracks available to listen to before you buy.  but really, it's so good i know you'll want a copy for yourself.  so please, take a minute and click over, buy a CD, and tell all your friends.

if you know stig, you probably know that playing music is a very important part of his life - it's been his dream for a long time.  and playing with dehlia low has been such a great experience for him; let's all support him and his music -- he deserves it!!

party like it's 2-0-0-9

the party never stops around here.  just as we were recovering from christmas, here came the new year - 2009!  i totally missed posting on that one.  (as exciting as it was - me knitting a sock and reading the 'twilight' series, while the kids slept, and stig went out to play a gig.)  and with the new year comes another round of birthdays.  the first belonging to this special guy:

see stig checking out the fancy ice-cream log from Dairy Queen.  he thought i wasn't listening when he reminisced about the good ol' days and ice cream log cakes.  suprise hon!  i thought about re-creating the log myself, but then i waited too late realized i'd bettter leave it to the experts at DQ.

we also went out to a nice laid-back dinner of nachos, pizza, and good beer.  adella stuck some quarters in the 'the claw' toy machine and shocked herself (and us) by winning two toys at once!  awesome.  then a nice little boy gave griffin a stuffed cat, and stig came in 10th place in the motorcycle video game.  he is learning the sad truth about getting older - you just can't keep up with the young'uns like you used to.  (*wink wink*)

ah - fun, fun times.
