friday was 'young authors day' at adella's school. the kids spent all day celebrating books and authors, making blank books, reading the books that they had written, and presenting their stories to the rest of the school. hooray for books! adella agreed to read one of her books for the camera. so here's a little video of one of her latest books.
it's short, but so sweet. and it's all there -- beginning, middle, end. love, suspense and danger, and a lesson learned in the end.
and the author bio? so awesome. i love my sweet (big) little nature-loving environmentalist girl.
it snowed and snowed, all day, and we ended up with about 6 inches of the white stuff. truthfully, we are all pretty much over the snow, the cold, the winter. but we did get out and play this afternoon, and the snow was perfect for packing snowballs and building snowmen.
adella made this enormous snowball -- she rolled it around the yard, picking up the entire thickness of the snow. it was crazy, and turned out to be a HUGE ball. then, she made some more, and she built two giant snowmen.
here's a quick video of the giant snowball-in-the-making. so cool!
this is the tail-end (bad pun, sorry) of a sweet scene of griffin petting matilda. the oohing and aahing went on for a while before i ran for my camera...
as you can see, he is very specific about what he wants! he's talking SO much now, and it's really fun to see his personality blossoming so much more. ah, my sweet little guy!
this is what we did all afternoon. check her out! these videos were taken just a few minutes into it -- she got the hang of it really quickly, and got even more steady as the afternoon went on.
all the neighbors came out to watch and cheer her on too. when we moved to our street she wasn't even born yet, and now look how she's grown...
hello everyone! come in, come in! adella was just about to read to us from her first book, "adella davina stiglets." would you like to listen? well, pull up a chair, put on your listening ears, and enjoy the story:
the book is a blank hardback from barebooks (thanks to amanda for the link). we just got our order a few days ago, and i am so pleased! within a few hours, adella had already written this entire book. she's so proud. she's already got plans for more stories and adventures - i can't wait to see what she comes up with!
